My most favorite hated team wins the Stanley Cup

I used to like the Blackhawks.  After all, I was born in Dupage County Hospital.

I used to like the Bruins.  After all, my father is from Boston.

Then the Blackhawks exhibited a complete lack of class by roughing up Canuck players before, during, and after the whistle in consecutive seasons, abetted by the referees of the National Hockey League, who put away their whistles for the entire playoffs.  The rules that applied all season long ceased to apply during the playoffs.

A year later the Bruins did the same things during the Cup finals, again with the complete cooperation of the league and its officials.  Skating by a player and punching him in the stomach became the norm, rather than a penalize-able offense.

So I stopped cheering for both the Blackhawks and the Bruins, instead actively rooting against them.  Caused a bit of a quandary when both teams went to the Stanley Cup finals this year.  Decided that I just couldn't, in good conscience, cheer for the Bruins at all, so held my breath and hoped that the Blackhawks would win.

Yay!  That's about all the enthusiasm I can muster.  The Bruins didn't win another Stanley Cup.  And since I don't have TV I didn't see any of it, although from the game summaries I read, seemed like a good series.

Edit: Realized the my title was backwards.

Good grief, it doesn't belong to you anyway!

All this stink about the NSA seems to be overlooking one thing.  Those records DON'T BELONG TO YOU!  They belong to the phone company.  You have no expectation or right to privacy in something that doesn't belong to you.  Let me quote for a moment:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects,
Phone records that belong to the phone company are NOT your person, NOT your house, NOT your papers, and NOT your effects.  They are NOT yours at all and thus have NO fourth amendment protection.

With Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the AP wiretapping, the Fox News wiretapping, the IRS targeting conservative groups, and now the EPA treating liberal and conservative groups differently, why are we getting distracted by the fact that the NSA is running diagnostic software on phone records that don't belong to individuals.

Probably because it distracts.  That would be my guess.

And on and on it goes

The EPA is now being investigated for targeting conservative groups.  Apparently they waived the Freedom of Information Act fees 90% of the time for liberal groups and denied a waiver 90% of the time for conservative groups.

My guess is that the left will once again deny, just like they did with Bengazi, the IRS, Fast and Furious, etc.  They will come out with the same fake statistics about how it was the same under Bush that they do with every scandal, or they will claim that it isn't even true and create some way to fudge the numbers.  Eventually the truth will out, but by then people will be so tired of this that it just won't register and anyone still talking about it will be accused of living in the past.  The left will accuse anyone actually investigating the issue of being a partisan crank who never lets anything go.

Meanwhile the real problem is not the Obama Administration, it is a government that is so big that it can be used for political purposes.  Eventually an administration like Obama's will come along and misuse it.

I propose that we eliminate all these rogue agencies, return our government to its formerly limited, capital-C, Constitutional status, and go about living our lives.

But then what do I know.  I'm probably a partisan crank.

Truth in Advertising

Very Cherry really means "contains no grapes", which are my favorite part.

The Lois Lerner Defense

So next April 15 do we all get to write "I've done nothing wrong and I refuse to answer any questions" on our tax form or do we have to wait until we get audited to use that line?  Hmm.  Wonder how that would go over with the nice folks at the IRS?

Worthless Degree Awareness Month

June has been declared "Worthless Degree Awareness Month".  As your kids, grandkids, neighbor's kids, etc graduate and head off to college, now would be the perfect time to point out that racking up over $100,000 in debt for a degree that doesn't qualify you to run the fry machine at McDonald's is probably not a great career move.  Instead, take a couple years to figure out what kind of job you want, and what kind of experience or training will help you get that job.  By the time your friend graduates from college with a worthless degree you will have four years of experience.

Oh, and buy Worthless by Aaron Clarey.  He says the same thing, only with charts and statistics.  So it's better.

And now the forks are leaking

Got the tires, got them mounted and installed, and discovered that there is oil all over the front end.  So the seals, which I was going to replace anyway as a part of a general fork rebuild, are now leaking like mad.  Maybe they got wind of the plan to replace them and decided to protest.  I almost stayed in my shop late on Saturday night to do the rebuild, just because it is now bugging me, but decided that there was no urgency to the job and that I should go home and relax.

So here I am not relaxing.  Probably should have stayed and worked on the bike.

Just realized that there are no pictures in this series of posts about the CBR.  I'll have to correct that soon.

One less reason to move to California
