200 Years and Still Sailing

The U.S.S. Constitution (Old Ironsides) sailed to celebrate the 200th anniversary of its victory in the War of 1812.





PS Interesting factoid: The Constitution is still a commissioned warship of the U.S. Navy.

Since it plays no part in defending the seas today, it should be transfered to the parks department (or to private foundations, like all those aircraft carriers) and let them maintain it instead of using actualy naval sailors to perform tasks that no modern navy does.


Also, I have seen documentaries of large scale refittings on the Constitution, so I must wonder how much of it remaining really IS the Constitution.
