If it's good for the goose

Over the years one of my frustrations has been the number of anti-gun celebrities and politicians who have access to armed guards or firearms that the rest of us don't have.

A couple of examples stand out.

Rosie O'Donnell employs armed guards for her family,

Senator Dianne Feinstein has a concealed pistol permit from California, and there are many more.

They claim that we don't need firearms but they maintain their own protection above and beyond what we are allowed or can afford.

In other news, the White House has a petition page now.  I don't know what they think it is accomplishing, but maybe they like the idea of wasting taxpayer money having a meaningless non-random polling sample of various issues.

The two have recently come together.  There is a new petition on the White House petition page that asks the President to set the example by creating gun free zones around the President, Vice President, and their families by eliminating their armed guards.  After all, this is what the President wants for us and why should he not be subject to the laws that are applied to the common people.  I tire of the imperial presidency, where our government officials are exempt from the laws that they impose on us.

The thing is, you have to register with the White House to sign the petitions.  I choose not to be added to their enemies list but if you are OK with it, or if you already have an account, here's the link.
