Minimum wage rant

"Working folks shouldn’t have to wait year after year for the minimum wage to go up" President Obama

Yet another load of left wing drivel.  Anyone who waits year after year for a raise because the government hasn't mandated a higher minimum wage ISN'T WORTH THE MONEY THEY ARE EARNING AND PROBABLY DOESN'T STILL HAVE THE SAME JOB.  I worked in a warehouse, managed a different warehouse, and worked in a motorcycle shop.  There wasn't an employee in either place that didn't have a raise within a year if they were still working there.

If you are earning minimum wage it is because you don't know how to do anything so you are actually costing the employer money to have you there.  He (or she for those of you who watch for that kind of thing) hires you because he believes that you will eventually learn to do something useful, at which point he will give you a raise to keep you there.

If there is, in fact, a company somewhere that only pays minimum wage to its employees, I can  guarantee that the employees are leaving as fast as they get some experience to go get a higher paying job elsewhere.

I'm annoyed for the fact that it will make it harder for people to get hired into minimum wage jobs. If employers are going to be forced to pay a higher wage, they won't hire as many people- which the hiring/keeping on staff situation has already been negatively impacted by Obamacare rules.

Also, many people that can't find jobs have gone to working minimum wage jobs, possibly in conjunction with other part-time jobs or a full-time job, to try to make ends meet. In raising minimum wage, employment and even underemployment especially for younger people and older people will become less common and our unemployment rate will skyrocket.

$9 an hour isn't a "living wage" anyway, like Barry claimed. It's more like $11-14 an hour, depending on where a person lives. However, since this minimum wage increase will be inflationary, $9 an hour is going to purchase just as much as the current minimum wage rate, if not less. He doesn't have a clue. And it's pathetic.
