Veteran becomes inadvertant crimiinal

I don't know all the facts of this case.  For example, I don't know why he had rifle magazines in the trunk of his car.  I don't know how long he had lived in New York, or even if he did live in New York.  All I know is that Nathan Haddad has been charged with five felonies, each of which carries a potential seven year sentence for having five unloaded magazines in the trunk of his car.  He had neither rifle nor ammunition in the car, just the empty magazines, but under New York law, each magazine is a separate felony.
