The Imperial Presidency

Over the past month the Republican party has variously been referred to as "hostage takers", "terrorists", "holding a gun to the President's head", "anarchists", and many other pejorative terms.  Their crime was wanting to delay Obamacare for a year.

Yes, that's right.  The Republican controlled House passed bills to fund every part of the government except Obamacare and included a provision that the new rollout date would be October 1, 2014.

For this they were reviled in the press and eventually the Senate Republicans caved under the pressure and cut a deal.

Now the President and many Democrats want to delay the implementation of Obamacare.

The Obama administration is giving individuals who buy health insurance through government-run marketplaces until the end of March to enroll in a plan without a penalty, an administration official said.

I've talked about it here before, but when Congress passes a law, where in the Constitution does it give the President the power to unilaterally change it?  He allowed the government to shut down to keep the Republicans from achieving something he is now doing without authority.  Much like the delay that he ordered the Employer Mandate, another delay not authorized by the law or the Constitution, he does what he wants and blames the opposition.

This President is a joke.  Talk about an Imperial Presidency.  The left still castigates Bush for alleged overreach of powers but they are silent now.
