Burn this b#### down!

Watched some liberal apologist attempt to make the argument this weekend that Michael Brown's stepfather should not be held criminally liable for inciting riot when he repeatedly shouted "Burn this b#### down", subsequent to which the rioters burned sixteen businesses in Ferguson, Missouri.

Wait, what?

That is the definition of inciting to riot.  She made the lame argument that he was just overwrought, didn't mean anything by it, and the arson would have happened later anyway.

Right.  From 18 U.S. Code Section 2012 (emphasis mine):

(b) As used in this chapter, the term “to incite a riot”, or “to organize, promote, encourage, participate in, or carry on a riot”, includes, but is not limited to, urging or instigating other persons to riot, but shall not be deemed to mean the mere oral or written (1) advocacy of ideas or (2) expression of belief, not involving advocacy of any act or acts of violence or assertion of the rightness of, or the right to commit, any such act or acts.

Have we left reality so far behind that no African American is accountable for anything they say or do?  It is people like this who make me wonder if this country has gone so far down the wrong path that we may not recover.

Meanwhile other people were blocking the highways in Los Angeles on Wednesday, the busiest travel day of the year, although I just found out about it today.  Their apologists were making similar arguments about their "right to free speech".  Forget the fact that your right to free speech doesn't trump my right to travel freely, that is a concept that seems to have gone out the window when it comes to the modern left.  They have all the rights and everyone else can just drink a big cup of "shut the f. up".  Sort of like the rights of business owners in Ferguson to make a living by selling auto parts, groceries, cakes, cell phones, and whatever else the owners of the burned out businesses are peddling in order to making a living.  Their rights don't matter, only the rights to speech and free association of the looters and rioters "expressing their frustration".  What a load of B.S.

Thanks Ann. I'll change that link.

An update to this story, Lewis Head, stepfather in question, is under investigation for "incitement to riot". I'll be watching to see if anything comes of it.
