Math is hard

I read an article this morning in which the author demonstrated either a complete lack of understanding about how math works, or a complete indifference to writing a correct sentence to support her claim.  Here's the exact quote:

Statistics out of New York show that exponentially more residents are dying at home as compared with normal times—200 a day as compared with 20 to 25

Sigh.

For the record, you can't draw any conclusions at all about a mathematical pattern from two data points.  It could be linear, quadratic, exponential, logarithmic, or any other one of an infinite number of possibilities.

Haha. Well. 200 IS an exponent of 25. And so are all the other numbers.
