Gun control propaganda - a translator's guide

Heard some of the President's speech.  Here are some highlights.

Phrases from the speech  -  Translation

"initiatives to reduce gun violence"  -  you shouldn't own guns and if you oppose me you are in favor of gun violence

"common sense solutions"  -  you shouldn't own guns and if you oppose me then you have no common sense

"gun lobby has ginned up a fear that we are going to take away your guns "  - you probably haven't read Dianne Feinstein's proposed bill that would take away most of your guns and you probably haven't heard the mainstream media report that Andrew Cuomo, governor of New York has suggested that we should take away most of your guns, and since the media is on my side on this issue, you won't

"... there's probably an economic reason there as well"  -  you shouldn't own guns and if you oppose me it's probably because you are making money of the killing of innocent school children.

"members of Congress need to search their consciences"  - you shouldn't own guns and any member of Congress who doesn't help me take them away doesn't have a conscience.

So as you can plainly see, the President is seeking a bipartisan discussion on the root causes of violence and hoping that we can come together as a nation to ....

Oh right.  Never mind.  The President has declared that if you don't support him in banning many common and popular firearms in spite of a Second Amendment to the Constitution that clearly protects an individual right to keep and bear arms, then you are in favor of gun violence, have no common sense, are merchants of death, and have no conscience.  What a great way to advance a dialogue.

As I watched this yesterday, I was thinking the same thing. I also liked the part where he mentioned people who are afraid of losing their guns are just being unreasonable and fear-mongering.

We're just a bunch of paranoid kooks...because governments have never disarmed their public and become horribly tyrannical shortly thereafter. It's so precious to see him control the narrative.
