More notes on the shutdown: The widening definition of "essential"

Washington Examiner reports that union reps are authorized to keep working at taxpayer expense during the shutdown.

Yup.  Nothing more essential than union reps to the good operation of our federal government.  Makes you wonder how we got along without them for the two hundred years or so before Kennedy allowed federal workers to unionize.  Hell, even FDR, the Progressive in Chief, thought it was a bad idea.
