Registration leads to confiscation

So to everyone who said I was being paranoid and ridiculous when I said that the only purpose for gun registration was so that they would have lists of gun owners when they decided to take them away,

from the Hartford Courant in Connecticut

Authorities should use the background check database as a way to find assault weapon purchasers who might not have registered those guns in compliance with the new law.

Even better was a letter written to the editor. To wit:

""Thousands Ignore Law On Gun Registration"]. Then now is the time to increase the penalty and start rounding them up.

At the first sign that someone has an illegal weapon , they should be immediately tried and imprisoned. These are the people we must be worried and concerned about -- the ones who need to keep their ownership secret. "

Ordinarily, I'd say "Let's go" at the prospect of a jury trial, but given the tone of half of the letters to the editor of the Hartford Courant, perhaps a nullification of this unconstitutional law by a jury would be too much to expect.

Thanks EW.

One wonders where we have got to as a society when our fellow citizens will use the words "rounded up" when discussing a Constitutionally protected right.

The good news is that the comments since Pam's have been pretty pro gun and anti rounding-up-your-fellow citizens.
