Living up to expectations

Laphroaig.  10 year old single malt scotch whisky.

Silver Reef casino has a new cigar bar.  I don't smoke cigars but my buddy and I were in there last night since he does and wanted to check it out.  I decided to treat myself to a glass of something and since the Laphroaig was there in the cabinet and I've heard a lot about it, I decided to give it a shot.

Wow.  Talk about living up to your billing.  Smoky, peaty, smooth.  An aroma of fruit.  A bit of salt.  After I was about halfway through Miles, the (what do you call the guy who works in the cigar bar?  Waiter doesn't seem right, attendant seems like a nursing home) guy who works there, brought out Michael Jackson's book on single malt scotches and showed me the entry for Laphroaig.

Seaweed, salt, gooseberry.

Exactly.

That is an excellent book. I bought it for my husband one Christmas.
