So I bought a SUP

Stand Up Paddleboard, in case you aren't familiar with the abbreviation.  It's basically a twelve foot long surfboard, wide and thick for stability.  You stand on it and paddle it with a single bladed paddle.  I've been thinking about getting one for a while given the distinct lack of surf anywhere near where I live and I finally pulled the trigger.

It is huge.  I didn't consciously think about how big a twelve foot board would be until I was trying to move it into my house from the rack on my car.  It won't go around the corner into the front porch and it won't go around the corner into the living room.  That left lying on the floor of the front hall, making it pretty much impassable (including getting upstairs to use the bathroom and the bedroom) or standing it up in the stairwell.

Wow.

So I actually bought this over a month ago, maybe even closer to two.  Since then when it hasn't been wind storming it has been torrentially pouring.  When it wasn't torrentially pouring it was freezing cold.  And when it wasn't freezing cold, torrentially pouring, or wind storming I was having a hernia repaired.  Meanwhile the post, like the board, languished.

I'm really looking forward to getting out on it, but at this point it probably won't be til April.

Oh well.

Hope your recovery goes well! I was lifting the full garbage-bins into the back of the pickup to transport them out to the street because I was in a hurry and didn't want to roll them all the way...it was about to storm and it was cold...and something in my guy went bang. It didn't hurt till later, and it's been two weeks and steadily getting better so I almost don]['t notice it, but I no longer clench my stomach muscles so hard anymore...

I'd check with your doctor on this one. Hernias, from what I have learned, don't just heal themselves. The tube that runs through your abdomen stretches out, tears, whatever, and stays more open than it was before. Eventually your insides start pushing through the tube (darn gravity), at which point they can get twisted up and the blood flow can get cut off (strangulated hernia) to the point where they have to cut out a part of your intestine rather than just repair the hole. I think the keys are 1) is there a bulge in your lower abdomen and 2)does your junk hurt?

You could also just have pulled or torn a muscle and that will heal.

My junk is ok and there's no bulge - yet, but the now greatly diminished pain was to the lower abdominal wall, below my belly-button on the the left. I did my share of Internet research.
I'm definitely talking to my Kaiser-guy about it next time I'm in there. I don't seem to have any other problems besides that which I do to myself by over exertion.
